Mercer County Alternative School

 Our story

The Mercer County Alternative School is a Mercer County Educational Service Center program created to serve the unique learning needs of Mercer County students.  The alternative school combines the prior program options from Opportunity, Alternative, and the Charter school into one program.

Districts, who have students that need short or long term learning options, can access the alternative school and be confident their students are provided a comprehensive curriculum that meets all of Ohio’s achievement standards.

 Mission Statement

Our mission at the Mercer County Alternative School is to provide a student-centered, flexible, and caring non-traditional learning environment that creates the scaffolding to support the pillars for student success.

Our staff focuses on building relationships, trust, and self worth.  The small environment allows us to increase the student’s self esteem which also increases the student motivation to complete school requirements.

The staff employs many personalized methods to demonstrate concept mastery.  The staff believes that all students have the opportunity to succeed when given a personalized opportunity to learn.

By setting high expectations and individualized attention, our goal is for all students to reach higher levels of achievement and personal growth.
